A relationship may be a marraige, or it may be a relationship with a family member or someone you work with. In today’s day and age, relationships are often hard to establish and hold onto. It is common that relationships break down, and getting to the core reason of why that’s happened is important. Relationship counselling is an effort to recognise and deal with the differences between the two people, causing distress. Whether this is done by counselling the two people in question, or changing the way someone personally reacts to another person are both ways to overcome a relationship breakdown.
Relationship counselling is more of a short term treatment, with the sessions being more focused on ways to better the relationship. It’s important that if a couple session is arranged, I also get to see each person seperately. This is hugely important, as a relationship only works when the two parties involved are happy within themselves. One person within that relationship may be suffering a lack of confidence and relying fully on the other person, but by dealing with this seperately, will allow the person with the lack of confidence to work on loving themselves before they can open up and love the other person in question.
